losing faith 2008/05/22 03:47
I'm rapidly becoming disillusioned ... just as I was about to plunk down 450 smackers for what Accuscore labels as a "good" annual deal, I find myself questioning the Accuscore "powers that be" ability to provide a product worthy of $450.

I've been following Accuscore since July, 2007. Reason? I like the simulated game premise ... could be the wave of the future, providing the folks running the simulations know what they're doing.

So I've been watching, watching and hoping for signs of competence. Before investing my hard earned money, I watch for small signs, signs that indicate attention to detail. That's important to me.

First off ... we're into late May and Accuscore still insists on calling the Tampa Bay Rays the Tampa Bay "Devil Rays". Are you folks unaware of the name change or are you just unable to make the necessary web site adjustment? Either way it doesn't look good for the "powers that be".

Next ... Accuscore's initial daily simulation percentages are somtimes final and sometimes adjusted later in the day. Surely there must be a simple way of indicating to the paying subscribers the finality, or lack of same, of your simulations.

One more ... Accuscore's "Winning Edge" Pricing page.
You label the 3 month $125 cost as "Good" and the $250
6 month cost as "Great" ... $125 for 3 months is "good" and twice 125 for 6 months is better than good ... it's "great"? Makes no sense ... 'tis a small point, I admit, but one that I contend would cause many potential paying customers to question your "attention to detail".

Finally, today, May 21, Accuscore introduced a new page. Now, clicking on "MLB", then "game preview", then your favorite team, LAA vs TOR for instance, brings up a new page headed "Accuscore Game Forecasts"
This page encourages you to subscribe to "Winning Edge" I attempted to do that.

Clicking on "Upgrade to Winner's Edge" yielded a new page, a page that implored me to "Join Now". I clicked on the latter and was shown a new page that stated, in very small print, "You are not authorized to view this resource."

Conclusion. Attention to detail is lacking. I still believe the "simulation" idea is a good one, but not one in which I will invest until the folks in charge prove themselves.

Let me see if I can try to answer a few of your questions.

First, as far as the site goes, we launched a new site back before the start of football season, and since then have been making changes here and there, while still trying to maintain full functionality. You probably have noticed some changes here and there, and sometimes with those changes come a few minor errors.

As for the (Devil) Rays, we are well aware of this, as you can see in the articles we write. I always refer to them as the Rays, and I've seen Jonathan Lee do the same. I believe the issue here is with the data provider. If we change the name to the "Rays" then all of the data coming in for the "Devil Rays" won't go to the right team.

As for the final simulations, this is out of our control. We strive to give the most accurate simulations we can, and that includes incorporating injury updates in to the simulations. The initial simulations are usually done the night before, and an injury update is done in the morning. If more injury info comes out at, say 3:00, then we run another simulation. A good rule of thumb would be to check the sims an hour before the game. Usually an hour is too little time to find the update, run the simulations, and get everything up online.

I am checking on the link on the Winner's Edge page. It appears that the "Upgrade Membership" link is working at the top, but a recent change must have messed up the link.

Realize that with the NBA and NHL playoffs going on, plus the MLB season in full swing, the web site upgrades fall second to the product, which is providing accurate and useful simulations. The ideal situation would be to make a change and have no issues, but that's not always how things work.

As for the product, you may have noticed a lot of threads lately detailing AccuScore's successful accuracy (NBA's hot streak, MLB doing well recently). These threads come from our current subscribers, and I would think their testaments would provide you with some re-assurance to the actual product.

Please help. I emailed you about this last week: I paid the $49 for a one-month subscription to the Winner's Edge but after just a couple of days my access was gone. Each time I log in and then attempt to access Winner's Edge info I am directed to a page that encourages me to join (which I have obviously already done. Thank you for your prompt assistance. tded2640
