A couple quick questions.

On the O/Us, when you say:

Zito and Vargas: 8 HR, 10.46 XERA

What is XERA vs ERA? Does that just mean combined ERA? For the season?

And the 8HR, where does that come from? Is that the last X amount of games of HR given up combined or the avg combined for the season?

Thanks!

XERA stands for Expected ERA. It is a reflection of what the pitcher's ERA should be.

The numbers I show are from the last 5 games. I try to take the most recent numbers to an idea of how the pitcher is currently doing.

Well 2-3 for the night when two of the losses were decided by.5 runs. Unbelievable!!!!! I added the San Diego/Baltimore game when I saw the O/U was only 7. I felt this was too low due to the fact that both pitchers are basically unproven. So, for the night, we went 3-3. Not bad when I see two losses by .5 runs. We should of taken the St. Louis O as well as it hasn't hit the first two games. Sure enough, it hits tonight. I should know better since I live 20 minutes from Busch. Again, thanks for the insight and I am riding with you for the rest of the week!

I was deciding between Seattle/Pittsburgh and Kansas City/St Louis. Both games had high XERAs, but low homers. I went with Jeff Weaver in the end, despite worrying about the Pirates and their history of making horrible pitchers look like stars.

Only 5 games today, so we'll see what happens.
