I've always said this about web sites. The more free porn you show on the main page, the more professional you look. No, seriously. This isn't sarcasm at all. Ok, maybe a little bit.

It's very obvious that Bestndabiz signed up up using an alias so he could blast those he mentions. Additionally, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the very negative posts are all from one person, but under different handles. This type of behavior is very typical of someone who has a major ax to grind.

Glad to see that Bestadork was able to understand basic math...He obviously didn't realize that 70% reliability is far from any type of "lock." Ever watch a weather forecast???

I've only been a member for a few months, but I've found SS to be very beneficial. I've grown my bankroll by over $7K using many different aspects of SS. Keep up the good work guys. I really enjoy their statistical approach.

And to the poster who started the thread......posts like that should be censored by the Admin....I would prefer not to read such trash.

I understand the frustuation, before i joined the site said how active the boards are and ppl are here to help develop their own systems(there is about 3 posters and with the exception of scorp, just random picks with zero analysis associated) . I'm new here and would like to know what goes into these simulations? are they back-tested? meaning does vegas produce the spreads and then the results are retrofitted to the spread or does it really calculate the spread independently?
what variables are in the prediction vs the ones that are not?
i wasnt really looking for a magic oracle, i was looking for something to help modify existing data and to manipulate that information. if any1 can help me get started that would be great otherwise i cant really utilize the value and will prob end up stopping the service after my month.

I believe you are asking how the StatShark system works. What they do is simulate the games 10,000 times and take the average results as the "projection" for the game.

For example, if New England and Buffalo were playing, they would simulate that game 10,000 times. If the average result was New England winning by 7 points, then that would be the StatShark prediction.

As for the Vegas line, that is seperate from StatShark and has no bearing on the simulations. The StatShark prediction is compared to the Vegas line to get a win percentage. So if StatShark is predicting New England to win by 7, and the Vegas line is New England -3, then you would use the StatShark projection to make a guess that New England would cover this spread., since Vegas is saying New England will win by 3 and StatShark is saying New England will win by 7.

As for the systems, a lot of people have different methods in how they choose StatShark picks. Some people just take the picks with a high winning percentage (winning percentage can be found on the "Live Betting Percentages" page.) Some people, like douglas, use another service and combine it with StatShark's best percentage picks to increase their winnings. Some people use the Daily Line Report to find StatShark's best plays. You can find the DLR under "Handicapping Tools." What I usually look for is how accurate StatShark is for a certain team. If they are very accurate for a team, and the game for that team has a high win %, then that's a strong play, as opposed to just going with the win percentage alone.

I hope this helps you out. I wouldn't recommend going by the win percentage alone, as that method is what started this thread (the poster bet on the games that had a 60% prediction and lost.) Find a method to mine the plays down. It takes some work, but it can be very profitable if you put some time in to it.

Thanks scorp! data analysis is only as good as the understanding of the variables that are calculated in so that might give me a start. can u adjust the variables at all?
for example normal homefield might be statistically signficant at 3 points in the nfl but some plays are much more difficult to play than others, so can u weight the averages and do a recal?
