First time poster ---- PS2 Capping 2007/03/27 11:29
Hi everybody this is my fisrt time posting on the forum. I have been watching for a long time. My roomate and I have been playing around with a fun way to handycap games like they do on espn using Xbox and PS2 games. We have had good luck and want to share it with everybody. My roomate and I play each other based on the nights games and whoever covers in the game we play is who we go with. We are both very good gamers so we feel that this is eqwal. We just got done playing the nba games for tonite and this is what we have.

Cleevland +2
New Orleans +6.5
Minnesota -7.5
Lakers -12

We do this for all sports. We will post them in the right forums so we dont get yelled at.

I used to do this for the NFL Playoffs. I'd download the latest rosters and simulate the games 3 times. It has pretty good accuracy, which is about right considering that EA pretty much is a scouting service, only they use their reports for their games.

Haha. My theory is that it's best to simulate the games if you want accurate predictions. I used to bring my laptop to work and simulate the games with the PC version of Madden. We never really bet on it, but at the place I work we do an annual playoff pool, so this was to see how good of a chance we had at winning.

My experience with video games is that they are more "true to life" when you simulate. Otherwise you're basically betting on the skill level of either opponent. Back in my video game days I used to be able to take the Rhein Fire from NFL Europe and slaughter any NFL team. You see, I had a choice in life. Go to my History of Russia class, or crush the souls of my roommates by beating them with a team whose QB was rated a 38. A lot of people can pass a class in college. It's hard to win with the Fire against the Colts. That's my theory in life.

When you're playing the games there are a lot of ways you can find glitches in the game, such as plays that always work for 10 yards, or defensive plays that usually get an interception. When the computer is playing a simulated game it isn't looking for the shortcuts, so things are more realistic. There's too many variables to consider when you have user input determining the results.

Good luck to you guys. It should be fun to follow.
