In a rematch of the 2008 Stanley Cup finals, the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings Tuesday night. Detroit beat the Penguins in six games to win the Stanley Cup last year, then added insult to injury, signing Marian Hossa away from the Penguins, after Pittsburgh sent Colby Armstrong, Erik Christiansen, top prospect Angelo Esposito, and a 2008 first round draft choice to Atlanta for two months of Hossa’s services. Pittsburgh tried to sign Hossa in the off-season to a multi-year deal, only to see him accept a one year deal with the Red Wings, for the sole purpose of winning a championship. Hossa and the Red Wings are winning 60.3 percent of simulations against the Penguins on Tuesday night, with Hossa scoring a goal in 43 percent of simulations, and scoring a point in 87 percent of simulations. Henrik Zetterberg is adding a goal in 55 percent of simulations, while Chris Osgood is stopping 23 of 26 shots in net for Detroit. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are combining to lead the Penguins offense, with the duo scoring at least one goal in 74 percent of simulations. Miroslav Satan has been a great consolation prize for the Penguins after missing out on Hossa, scoring eight goals in 14 games this season. Satan is scoring a goal in a third of simulations against Detroit, and scoring multiple points in 35 percent of simulations. While Detroit is the favorite to win, the average score is being decided by less than a goal, making this an AccuScore Upset Watch. Marc-Andre Fleury is keeping the Penguins in the game, stopping 35 of 38 shots. There is a 48.1 percent chance of this game being a close win in either direction, and only a 29.6 percent chance of a big win for either side. This game is forecasted to be close, and could come down to a shootout featuring some of the top NHL stars, like Zetterberg, Hossa, and Pavel Datsyuk for the Red Wings, and Crosby and Malkin for the Penguins. Fantasy Sleeper Watch: Alex Goligoski is scoring a point in 82 percent of simulations, third best of all Penguins skaters. Dan Cleary is scoring a goal in 25 percent of simulations. Trackback(0)
