Jets –Indianapolis ColtsCleveland BrownsSan Francisco 49ersMiami Dolphins

Considering the 49ers’ lack of producers in Fantasy during the 2017 season, you would think that this offense ranked as one of the worst in the league. You would be wrong, as San Francisco was right at league average in scoring. This team was playing from behind an awful lot, leading to the consistent production. Even with no Fantasy “stars” on this team, they were at least good enough to stay in ball games.

The big move for the 49ers thus far has been retaining Jimmy Garoppolo as the team’s starting QB. He has a very high ceiling under Kyle Shanahan and will be a sexy pick in many Fantasy drafts in 2018. A finish among the Top 10 QBs next year seems to be in the cards at this point.

Projected Top Three Picks

Team Needs: OG, CB, WR

First Round: Roquan Smith, LB Georgia

Second Pick: D.J. Chark, WR LSU

Third Round: Dorance Armstrong, DE Kansas

For Fantasy purposes, the most intriguing pick of these three is the selection of D.J. Chark. He is a tall, fast receiver with a skill set similar to Marquise Goodwin. His ability to get down the field adds another weapon for Garoppolo to utilize in the passing attack.

Chark’s route tree will be limited in his rookie season, but he can work over the middle of the field. His slight frame could make him prone to small injuries that will hamper him throughout the year. He will have some appeal in redraft leagues as a late round pick who can be a WR5 on your roster.

Don’t expect a big year in PPR formats. His value will likely be in standard leagues, as he will be a big play waiting to happen. Chark will be a hot commodity in dynasty formats in 2018.

The other two selections have the Niners finding some help on the defensive side of the ball.

Roquan Smith brings a leadership aspect to this defense that has been missing. His athletic ability added in with his instincts allows Smith to defend the run from side to side as well as drop back in coverage.
