how likely they are to play, or how their injury will affect their performance in Week 2.

Thomas Rawls RB, SEA

Last week Thomas Rawls practiced in full and even warmed up for the regular season opener but was ruled inactive shortly before kick-off. He reportedly was still feeling symptoms in his ankle during warm-ups, prompting the last minute call. This week Rawls is also practicing fully, and coach Pete Carroll has confirmed that he will play in Week 2 against the 49ers. According to the Inside Injuries algorithm, Rawls is at an Elevated IRC (Injury Risk Category) and Below Average HPF (Health Performance Factor). He has also just passed his Optimal Recovery Time of four weeks, which puts him in a much better position going into Week 2. His Elevated Injury Risk and recurring ankle issues make him a cautious start, but we still expect him to get the “start.”

Odell Beckham Jr. WR, NYG

week 2 injury report

OBJ began practicing on Thursday for the first time since spraining his ankle almost four weeks ago. He still has four days to get ready before the Giants take on the Lions in Week 2, and since he is practicing, even if it’s only limited participation, there is a good chance he’ll play on Monday. He reportedly did more at practice Friday, although he was still limited. If the Giants wanted to play it safe with their star receiver, they would sit him for one more week, especially considering how difficult the recovery from a high ankle sprain can be. If Beckham does play on Monday, he will be an Elevated Injury Risk, making him a cautious Fantasy option.

Danny Amendola WR, NE

Danny Amendola is now listed with not only a concussion but also a knee injury according to Wednesday’s injury report. He suffered both injuries during last Thursday’s season opener. Amendola was already questionable for Week 2 when he was just dealing with the concussion, but with a knee injury thrown into the mix it is highly unlikely that he is active on Sunday. Before exiting the game, Amendola was putting up a solid performance and filling in nicely for Julian Edelman (knee). Unfortunately, this proves that Amendola’s durability can’t withstand a tough workload. He’s a High Injury Risk according to Inside Injuries and considering he did not participate in practice on Friday, he should be considered a risky option for Week 2. He also has a history of concussions, complicating his recovery.

Golden Tate WR, DET

Lions’ WR Golden Tate put up a solid performance on Sunday, catching 10-of-12 targets for 107 yards, despite the fact that he was playing through a finger injury. He was seen with a splint on his left ring finger after the game. Nothing else has been released about the extent of the injury, but considering how little it seemed to affect his performance last week, we aren’t worried about him for Week 2. He was also a full practice participant on Friday, a good sign for his availability.  He’s at an Elevated Injury Risk because of the injury, so there is a chance he could cause further damage in Monday’s game. If Tate is forced to wear a splint or brace on his hand for the game, the added padding or protection could affect his ability to complete a catch.

Jordan Howard RB, CHI

Jordan Howard was a surprising addition to Chicago’s injury report on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He looked healthy during the game on Sunday against Atlanta, though he was out-done by rookie Tarik Cohen by 47 yards. He was limited at practice each day and is listed as questionable, so it’s likely the running back is banged up after the first game of the season. At this point, we aren’t worried about his Week 2 availability, but with Cohen making such a strong start, it could downgrade Howard to an RB2 going forward.

Jamison Crowder WR, WAS

Crowder was limited at practice last week with a hip injury, but it did not stop him from playing in Sunday’s season opener. He only posted 14 yards, which leads us to think that his hip injury limited not only his snaps but also his performance. Crowder was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, so he will likely be active for Week 2 unless he experiences a setback. Last week, Crowder was in a rotation with Josh Doctson and Ryan Grant behind Terrelle Pryor. Once he’s completely healthy, we figure that Crowder will hold on to the No. 2 spot, but that may not be for another week.

LeSean McCoy RB, BUF

LeSean McCoy was a workhorse for the Bills in Week 1, and even though he seemed to have suffered a minor hand injury, Bills OC Rick Dennison indicated that he has no plans to back off his workload. He rushed 22 times for 110 yards and caught 5-of-6 targets for 49 yards. The concern here is that the Bills don’t seem to have any plans to back off McCoy’s workload to keep him healthy. If they keep working him at this pace, they are going to work him into the ground and he will end up injured on the sidelines. We already saw proof of that with the minor hand injury last week, and now he is missing some practice reps with a sore groin. He has been bumped from Elevated to High Injury Risk based on his hand and groin problems. McCoy is still expected to suit up on Sunday, but the fact that he did not participate in Friday’s practice is very concerning. If he plays, he’s going to be at a High Injury Risk.

Jay Ajayi RB, Dolphins: knee injuries

Ajayi landed on the injury report this week with a knee injury, a recurring problem for the running back. He tore his ACL in 2011, and medical evaluations during the NFL draft in 2015 revealed more problems. His knee was “bone-to-bone” and microfracture surgery was considered a possibility down the road. While he performed well last year and didn’t miss any games due to injury, a knee problem like this can re-appear at any moment. The Dolphins don’t seem to be concerned, but this is something to monitor. He will likely suit up on Sunday, but be prepared for him to miss time or see a drop in his performance later in the year.

Sam Bradford QB, Vikings

After a stellar game in week 1, Bradford was a surprise addition to the Vikings’ injury report this week. His twice surgically-repaired knee is causing problems, so he was sent for an MRI on Tuesday. The results were inconclusive – not surprising because it is more difficult to read these scans following multiple surgeries. The Vikings are cautiously optimistic that he will be ready to play on Sunday, but this is a troubling sign. Even if all ligaments are intact, there could be significant inflammation in the joint. He is dealing with a grade 2 injury (according to the Inside Injuries algorithm), which indicates it could be a ligament sprain, cartilage damage or inflammation.

Jarvis Landry WR, MIA

Jarvis Landry was limited at practice on Friday with a knee injury. He was a late add to the injury report, but we don’t think his Week 2 availability is in question.

Amari Cooper WR, OAK

Cooper was limited at practice on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday and was removed from the final injury report. Considering how well he played in Week 1, we aren’t concerned about his availability or performance for Sunday’s game.

Terrance Williams WR, DAL

After spraining his ankle in Week 1, Williams did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday. Ankle sprains take at least a week or two to recover from, which puts his Week 2 availability in question.
