Jared Goff (QB, Rams) – “I hopped off the plane at L.A.X. With a dream and my cardigan. Welcome to the land of fame excess. Am I gonna fit in?.” Goff struggled in his first career start, but bounced back in the first half against the Saints with three scores. While he couldn’t muster up much in the second half, his overall performance was enough to be positive about. Keep in mind, he just turned 22 years old and is playing behind a brutal offensive line. He has Todd Gurley and a mediocre corps of receivers to throw to. Hopefully, we will see more strides from the number one overall pick in the coming weeks. He is definitely not Fantasy relevant at this juncture, but his development does affect the values of Gurley, Kenny Britt and Lance Kendricks. Goff is a buy low option in dynasty formats, especially two-QB leagues. His matchup against the Patriots this weekend should be fruitful stat-wise.
Limitless by Smoke DZA and Pete Rock featuring Dave East
Andrew Luck (QB, Colts) – “I’m limitless, never find something as real as this. There ain’t no limit to this life I’m living.” The 27-year-old Luck has been anointed as the next one since he entered the league and his 2014 breakout was proof of those skills. Since then, though, he’s missed chunks of time due to injury and has not recaptured the same level of play. He has an established playmaker in T.Y. Hilton and a developing stud in Donte Moncrief to work with. What the Colts need is offensive line help to keep Luck upright and some major help on the defensive side of the ball. Luck is still in the Top 5 of dynasty QBs you want to have on your roster for the next decade and his upside is as the best quarterback in the game. In fact, now is the perfect time to inquire about his services. Now is certainly not the time to give up on the talented signal caller. As long as he is cleared to play, you have to like his matchup this weekend against the Jets. Consider him a Top 5 play and quality DraftKings option.
Because We Want To by Billie Piper
Devontae Booker (RB, Broncos) – “We can do what we want to do. We can do anything. Free to be who we want to be. Just tell yourself you can do it.” Expectations were high for Booker this season, especially after C.J. Anderson’s season ending injury a month ago. He is certainly getting a full workload, with at least 24 touches in three of his past four games. Unfortunately, he is not making the most of it, with 3.3 yards per carry or less in those four contests. Booker is still an intriguing talent in long-term leagues, but he will really need to show up in the last month of the season. We could see RB1 production this week thanks to a matchup against the Jaguars. I’m still willing to buy, but be mindful not to overpay with Anderson due to return next season.
Eat It by Weird Al Yankovich
Jeremy Hill (RB, Bengals) – “Don’t you tell me you’re full. Just eat it, eat it. Get yourself an egg and beat it.” Remember when Jeremy Hill stormed onto the scene as a rookie and made Gio Bernard basically irrelevant? It seems like ages ago, but it was only three seasons. With Bernard on the shelf with a torn ACL, the backfield belongs to Hill and that makes him an RB2 for the rest of the year. Not only will he continue to see 15-plus carries on a weekly basis, but he’ll also be more involved in the passing game. He has Top 10 upside because of that volume. Hill is a solid play this week against the Eagles in your seasonal format and one to consider in Daily as well. For dynasty formats, Hill is somewhat of an enigma. After that tremendous rookie performance, Hill has been average. This is his chance to pump back up his stock, but Bernard will likely be back early next season.
Zero by Chris Brown
Brandin Cooks (WR, Saints) – “Gave a hundred percent but all I got from you, zero, zero. I thought you were the one, then you turned around. Found somebody better, like I never met ya. Ask how many nights I’ve been thinking of you, zero, zero (Zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero).” With the Saints scoring points seemingly every single possession, you would have thought Cooks had a monster Fantasy day. Ok, at least a decent day, maybe even if he didn’t find the end zone. Nope, he did not even have a target last Sunday. While he has clearly been surpassed by Michael Thomas as the Saints go-to receiving option, Cooks is still very much a WR2. Perhaps complaining about his role will get him additional targets against the Lions. The matchup is primed for him to have a bounce back game. He will be the narrative street play of the week in Daily Fantasy. Do not bench him this week as punishment for his dud last week, you’ll only be hurting yourself.
Are You For Real? by Zebrahead
Marvin Jones (WR, Lions) – “Are you for real? Are you for real? Hey you, are you feeling like me too? I need to get an answer out of you, well. All the days. All the time. All the lies lie on the line. Did you just try to set me off? well.” Jones started out the season like gangbusters, but has really faded in the past seven weeks. Part of that is due to some very tough matchups and he’s seen a significant drop in targets as well. There is still WR2 potential here, but he needs to show something before that happens. This matchup could bring out the best in him, as the Lions could be in a track meet with the Saints on Sunday afternoon. His $4,400 salary on DraftKings is one of the best values on the board. You also might be able to buy Jones in dynasty at a discount thanks to his recent drought.
The Hills by The Weeknd
Vance McDonald (TE, 49ers) – “Hills have eyes, the hills have eyes. Who are you to judge, who are you to judge? Hide your lies, girl, hide your lies. Only you to trust, only you. I only call you when it’s half past five. The only time that I’ll be by your side.” McDonald may not be getting any pub, but he’s been a solid replacement level tight end. He has had at least nine PPR points in four straight and provides a key receiving threat in the 49ers offense. The 26-year-old is on pace to easily shatter all his career highs. In fact, he has already set them in every category except for receptions. If you are in deeper or TE-premium formats, McDonald certainly has value. It will also be interesting to see where he ends up in 2017, as he is a free agent this offseason. McDonald could be a sneaky TE1 sleeper next season. For now, though, he’s more of a bench piece.
Back From Hell By Run D.M.C.
Rob Gronkowski (TE, Patriots) – “On the lower level where the devils dwell. Comin’ from the one, comin’ back from hell.” Gronkowski has had an up and down season. When he’s been healthy and playing, he’s been up. Mostly though, he’s been banged up and now is facing the possibility of missing the entire 2016 season after back surgery. Add to that, Gronk has a history of back problems and you get an interesting dynasty case. He’s clearly the most dominant tight end in the game and maybe ever. Regardless of his injury history, now is not the time to sell unless you get elite value in return. Not only does this cripple Fantasy owners, but it impacts the Patriots’ Super Bowl chances as well. He’ll be 28 years old heading into next season and hasn’t played 16 games since 2011.
