There is a ton of NHL action tonight as each team is getting in one last game before the All-Star break. This will be the last NHL analyst picks article until January 31 when the league gets going again. My picks are available to members, so sign in now to check them out. If you aren’t a member, sign up for an all-access membership pronto and enjoy having the best sports forecasting system at your disposal.

If you haven’t seen Alex Ovechkin’s hit on Zbynek Michalek Sunday night, go to youtube and check it out. Ovi leaves his feet and slams Michalek’s head into the boards. Ovechkin had a hearing Monday afternoon, which ended up in him receiving a three game suspension for ‘launching’. In addition, he will forfeit $154,677.75 (talk about a hefty sum of money). Ovechkin had decided to skip the All-Star game because of the suspension. I like the suspension, particularly because it shows the league isn’t going to go soft on stars. In regards to him not playing in the All-Star game, I could care less. Maybe he’ll spend the time off focusing on how to keep the Capitals in the playoff race.
