College Basketball Analyst Picks - Feb 23

By Jonathan Lee

This week has already seen some teams knock down the door to March while others tripped before getting past the frame.  Seton Hall trounced No. 8 Georgetown 73-55 to solidify its bubble status while Kansas State jumped a seed line or two with a road win over Missouri.  Surging New Mexico’s charge towards the tournament was stopped by Colorado State which got a big win for its own resume.  Northwestern almost got that program changing win going to overtime with Michigan, but ultimately fell and will continue to sweat out the bubble.  Illinois was buried by Ohio State.  North Carolina State might have suffered the same fate as the Illini falling to the ACC gauntlet of Duke, Florida State, and North Carolina.

Thursday will see several bubble teams trying to make late runs toward a tournament bid.  Oregon is somehow still in the Pac-12 race and will need a win at rival Oregon State to maintain a top four conference seed, and the tournament bye that comes with it.  St. Mary’s has lost three of four, and should get back on track against lowly Portland.  The biggest game of the night however will see No. 4 Duke go on the road to No. 16 Florida State for the lead in the ACC.
