7:00 – NCAAB
Syracuse vs. California (Madison Square Garden)
In my mind, this game will come down to whether or not Cal hits it’s threes. Syracuse of course will be playing its traditional 2-3 zone so the Bears will need to knock down shots from the outside. If they don’t, or struggle for long stretches they probably will lose. Average simulations actually have Syracuse the favorite winning 54% of the time, which is actually opposite the betting line (Cal -1.5). I’ll take the Orange because of their zone, and their comfort zone in MSG and on the East Coast. Cal has not had a target and expectations placed on it in years, and I think they may struggle in their first test against a quality opponent.

Colorado Points Scored OR Oklahoma State Winning Margin
Average simulations actually have the OSU margin larger than Colorado’s point total. The Cowboys are winning on average by 21.1 points, while the Buffs are scoring 15. EDIT: Zac Robinson is doubtful to play now due to a concussion. That obviously negatively affects the Cowboy offense. I'll take Colorado in this case.
8:20 – NFL
Miami Dolphins @ Carolina Panthers
These teams are basically the same, both 4-5 suffering through injuries and a mediocre season. Because of that I’ll take the home Carolina Panthers. Average simulations have Carolina winning 54% of the time.
8:30 – NHL
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Dallas Stars

9:20 – NCAAB
North Carolina @ Ohio State
The biggest thing I’ll be watching is Evan Turner going up against the talented Tar Heels. Average simulations have the Buckeyes winning 54% of the time, but Carolina outscoring them by 0.7 points. This game will probably be Ohio State’s backcourt and perimeter talent against Carolina’s frontcourt. 96% of the crowd is backing the Tar Heels, and I tend to agree just on overall talent but I would actually stay away from this game. I think UNC has a real problem in the backcourt and wonder if this will be the game it is exposed.

Chicago Blackhawks @ Calgary Flames

John Salmons (CHI) or Ron Artest (LAL)
Average simulations have Salmons projected for 15.5 points and Artest for 11.5 points. Needless to say, the Lakers have more weapons than the Bulls making Salmons much more likely to be a focus of his own team’s offense. Take Salmons. |
