AccuScore World Series Simulations and Scenarios Print E-mail

Even though Boston is favored to win Game 4, AccuScore gives the Rockies a definite chance to avoid the sweep. Simulations are as close as can be with the Rockies winning 49.9 percent and the Red Sox winning 50.1 percent.

Unlike Josh Fogg, Aaron Cook is forecasted for a very strong game allowing fewer than three earned runs over six innings.

What you saw in Game 1 does not bode well for the Rox. No matter if you hate the Sox or you love the Sox. What you saw was a Rockies team that was dismembered and dismantled. The new "Big Red Machine" rolls into Coors Field and sweeps.

Not this time. Note to Manny: Dude, you're good at what you do (thankfully) because if it wasn't for baseball...you'd be selling drugs.

Because I have $50 on 'em. Go Beck. Go Papi. Go Manny. Seriously though, my rationale was....obviously the Sox are the hottest team, coming off three huge wins, and riding that momentum into tonight. Yes, the Rockies are piping hot as well, but as we saw with Detroit last year, a layoff is bad news for hot teams.

We shall see.

If I were Hurdle I'd flip flop Francis and Jimenez. Beckett is lights out in the playoffs. At this stage Schilling is hit or miss and I'd like Francis over him twice...then it's matter of each club finding 2 more wins. As is I like the Sox in 5 winning 2 in Fenway one of the first 2 in CO and Beckett in game 5.

The Rockies have had a great run and deserve tons of credit. What goes up must come down. Like the Yankees a team can't ride a hot run for ever. The lay off hurts and stats including wins and losses even out. Sorry no lost slippers in this World Series.

i like the rockies in 5. the rockies are the cinderella team this year they barely even made it into the playoffs then they come in a sweep both series. they are bound to win the world series. i think they lose game one and win the rest.

Yes, I'll agree with TCHOCKY. This Game 1 is crucial for both sides. Never downplay the Rockies but if they get shut down in Game 1, it's slowing down any momentum they have and the series will end in six with Boston (4-2). If the Rockies get to Beckett, it'll almost certainly be a domino effect and I am predicting a sweep with the Rockies in 4 (4-0).

Bradley,

Thank you for reading the article and for the comment. There are a number of deals that we are working on so that we can actually do more of this analysis for more sports, like the NBA. Being a small company, we do not always have the sheer ability or man power to post everything we put out, especially when the LA Times requests things last minute that we do not have time to contextualize into articles.

That being said, we will try to do better about putting this analysis up, but I am sure you can understand that when someone like Yahoo! Sports requests this type of analysis, just as ESPN did for the Pats/Cowboys game, we try to deliver to them as quickly as possible while maintaining what we we give our members currently. As we add more resources and more people, we will do our best to continue to develop good analysis and point you in the right direction of it, if it's not found here.

AccuScore simulates each playoff game and the entire playoff series 10,000 times. This season, the team that has won over 50 percent of series simulations won their series with one exception, New York won 51 percent of simulations over Cleveland. AccuScore correctly projected Colorado to upset both Philly and Arizona but in simulations vs. Boston, the Red Sox ride home field advantage and the dominant pitching of Josh Beckett to win 69.4 percent of series simulations.

Would have been nice if before now those series results were actually published so the subscribers to the site may have benefitted. I don't recall anything like this ever being done for the NBA Playoffs either. Of course, there is time to do a whole special section on a Cowboys Pats regular season game.

I think that the end of this season has been beyond stats for the Rockies, Accuscore has picked the other team in every series so far....

I like the Red Sox in 6 games. For this to come to fruition, the Red Sox need to win the first two games at Fenway. If the Rockies win the 1st two games, then I like the Rockies in 5 games. I don't see this happening. The Rockies need to win at least one game in Fenway to make this a series. Boston will be in trouble in they lose Game 1. Red Sox can't afford to lose Game 1 in Fenway with Beckett on the mound. All the momentum will shift to Colorado if the Rockies can steal Game 1. Saying all that, it's a dangerous proposition betting against Beckett in the postseason.
