We were looking at some of our AccuScore trends and not surprisingly, an overwhelming number of people look at College Football and NFL data. Major League Baseball cannot compare with football in this country. There are 256 regular season NFL games, around 800 NCAA Football Division 1-A match-ups. There are 2,430 MLB regular season games. Even though nearly 2200 games have been played this year, as of 9/14 there are still as many MLB games (regular season + playoffs) as NFL this season. In 2006, AccuScore MLB Side Value predictions had a tremendous season (+8400 units). However, 75% of the season profits were accrued in the first half of the 2006 season. After a tremendous spring and early summer, AccuScore’s performance plateaued. In 2007, the overall gains are slightly under the 2006 pace (+6800 for the 2007 season to date), but the graph below shows that the trend in 2007 has been quite different than 2006. After around 2 months of MLB Side Value return was negative (late May), but since that time the return has been consistently positive. Sure there are "market corrections" here and there, but over 50% of the overall gains in 2007 have happened in the 2nd half of the season. So even though many of you do not have an interest in baseball, you may want to take a closer look at the remaining few weeks. Side Value accuracy is at 52.1% this season and with a multitude of money line underdogs the overall return is much higher than you would have going 52% on point spreads or over/unders. ![]() Trackback(0)
