Why are you reading this? Don’t you know that you can use AccuScore’s Fantasy Forecasting Tools for free and get updates at least every other day? Well, if you didn’t know this you know now. Start here for QBs. If you still insist on getting my opinion on Fantasy Football Rankings, keep reading. QUARTERBACKS Here’s the current rankings as of 8/20. The Saints are forecasted to pass the ball slightly more than the Colts and as a result Drew Brees is actually putting up slightly more fantasy points than Peyton Manning. For my money, I’d still take Manning simply because of his history of never getting injured. I would consider Marc Bulger as the 3rd QB I’d take if he weren’t forecasted to be sacked around 40 times. Bulger didn’t get injured last season, but I’m thinking he is due for a concussion or two this year. The biggest if on the list is Alex Smith. Even as someone who has expressed his doubts about Smith, he has looked good in Pre-Season against the other team’s starters. Now from what I understand, even when defensive starters are playing, the coaches usually don’t show their cards and use all their tricks for masking coverage and confusing QBs. I will say this, that the 49ers only passed the ball around 51% of the time in 2006. If the team is more confident in Alex Smith and if they want to conserve Frank Gore (coming back from injury) then the team could pass the ball 54% or more which could launch Smith up to the Top 10 level. Vince Young will rush for a ton of yards, but he’s forecasted to take a lot of sacks. I don’t think he’s going to have much accuracy and chemistry with inexperienced WRs and one aging WR (Eric Moulds) so his passing totals are not very good.
