Our futbol expert is a man who genuinely love La Liga. We try to convince him that it's just a 2 team league, but he insists than it is no different than any other league, save for the fact that the two best teams in the world happen to be in La Liga. Last season, it took Barcelona to knock out Real Madrid in the Champions League and anyone who saw the final would probably agree that Real Madrid was a better test for Barcelona that Manchester United, England's best team.
This season, Real Madrid jumped out to an early lead in La Liga and continued to prove their quality in Europe. Valencia, once again, sold off some talented stars, but Roberto Soldado's form has kept the Mestalla alive with colour. La Liga is a talented league with stars all over the place. With Malaga hoping to buy their way to the top a la Manchester City, La Liga may be more interesting than ever.
Real Madrid seems to have an extra gear this season, and the Spanish Super Cup showed that the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid has closed. Will Mourinho be able to lead Madrid past Barca? If so, will he leave in the same manner he left Internazionale? There will be many ups and downs, but the ultimate result will not be known until Barcelona and Real Madrid meet for the final Clasico of the season and count up all their points. For now, Real Madrid are in a good position to really challenge the Catalan giants.
